How To Know Who is of God

"Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.

Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.

But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.

So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil.

Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God." 1 John 3:4-10 NLT

If you are practicing sin and have felt powerless to overcome it, the messages on this site are here to help you see the truth for yourself from the scriptures and get free from that bondage. Even though you may believe in God, sin is a threat to us all and freedom from the power of sin is what Christ has provided for those who receive him. The gospel is not easily conveyed in an excerpt that excludes other passages or context. Half truths convey lies through false implications. Man-made and edited versions of the salvation message leave you powerless and misinformed about grace (see Jude 1:4). Continuing to follow Jesus brings knowledge of the truth and actual freedom.

It says in John 8:31-32

"Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

If you acknowledge the truth but have hardened your heart, recognize it is unbelief and self-deception. It's easy to end up in such a position through the deceptive pleasures of sin, but fight for your own soul! Romans 10:17 would throw you a lifeline, "Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ."

Hear the word. Read the word. Think the word. Do the word. And live.

“But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourselves. For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror. For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets what sort of person he was.  But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out—he will be blessed in what he does.” James 1:22-25
